A week before arrival:
• The brooder and all equipment must have been cleaned, disinfected and rested for 10 days prior to preparation. You will have to chose Viruchoc disinfectant, the wide spectrum and highly effective disinfectant.
• There must not be any residual matter from previous flocks. Feed sacks, litter, feathers, etc must have been all removed.
• Prepare adequate heaters, drinkers, feeders, thermometers and lighting with intensity of 20 lux.
• Put up the side curtains at minimum ventilation (double curtains in winter) and false ceiling. You can use tarplins or black polyethene.
• Put litter/bedding evenly to a depth of 10cm and remove foreign objects e.g. wires, papers, nails etc.
• Apply disinfect on the litter. Viruchoc disinfectant is the best
A day before chick arrival:
• Partition the brooder to place at an initial stocking density of 33 chicks per square metre.
• Preheat brooding area to 33 degrees Celsius for at least 24 hours.
• Feed and water (with LIPTOVIT MULTIADVIT) to be placed at least 6 hours before placement.
During the first 7-days:
• On day 3, drop side curtains by 10cm from the top to create air vents, But not permanently just for 2 hours and close back.
• Maintain a temperature of 32-33 degrees Celsius during the day and during the night.
• Mortality to be below 1%.
• Target an average weight of 177g on day 7 for broiler, and 120g for later chicks
• Encourage the chicks to move around and must be evenly spread out.
