{"id":5069,"date":"2020-04-01T09:19:18","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T09:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jaguzafarm.com\/support\/?p=5069"},"modified":"2020-04-01T09:19:18","modified_gmt":"2020-04-01T09:19:18","slug":"effects-of-tethering-on-goats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jaguzafarm.com\/support\/effects-of-tethering-on-goats\/","title":{"rendered":"Effects of tethering on Goats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many of the people who tether goats genuinely think goats are tough creatures that will eat anything, but in fact they are remarkably fussy eaters, and they have a miserable life for many reasons.\u00a0 They usually have insufficient food and water, they are always lonely, they are often cold and miserable, and they are very much at risk from thieves, dogs and vehicles<\/p>\n<p>Goats don\u2019t have a layer of fat under their skin as sheep do, and their coat is not greasy like wool so it\u2019s not so waterproof.\u00a0 For these reasons they really suffer in cold wet weather.\u00a0 Tethered goats are particularly at risk from the elements, and they must be provided with a robust weather-proof hut.\u00a0Don\u2019t forget to clean the hut out regularly if it has a solid base or move it frequently if it hasn\u2019t.\u00a0Goats will spend a lot of time in their shelter when the weather is bad and it will get very dirty inside.<\/p>\n<p>Tethered goats often don&#8217;t get enough food and water.\u00a0Goats must get fresh browse or pasture every day and they are surprisingly fussy eaters.\u00a0 They may have a good appetite for young trees and the growing tips of expensive plants, but they don\u2019t like soiled food.\u00a0 The grass that grows by the roadside is often dusty, oily and rank.\u00a0 It is not good feed unless there is plenty of it and the goat is moved frequently. Tethered goats need to have clean water available to drink at all times, especially when conditions are dry.\u00a0 The water container should be secured so that it can\u2019t tip over easily.<\/p>\n<p>Goats are intelligent social creatures, and they really like the company of other animals and preferably other goats.\u00a0 Solitary goats will be lonely.
